Statement of Faith

The trinity
The Trinity

JesusChurch believes in ONE God eternally existing in three divine persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe the trinity harmonizes in perfect unity reflecting love, holiness, justice, righteousness, faithfulness, infinite in knowledge and power, omniscient and omnipresent.

The Father

JesusChurch believes in God the Father, begotten by none and eternal Father of His Son, Jesus Christ. We believe God is the creator of all things and all humanity are created by and exist for Him. God the Father is the author of salvation, adopting all who by faith declare His Son Jesus as Lord, Saviour and Master of their lives. God is the creator, redeemer and provider of all things.

The Son

JesusChurch believes in Jesus Christ, the eternal and begotten Son of the Father. We believe Jesus is the fully divine, living Word of God who became fully human and conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life humbly obedient to His Fathers will and willingly sacrificed his life as a punishment for humanities sin as a provision of salvation to all who by faith declare Him Lord, Saviour and Master of their life.

The Holy Spirit

JesusChurch believes in the Holy Spirit as the third person of the triune God who proceeded from and was sent by the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit is the personal expression of God’s holy power. He is the author and illuminator of biblical truth. He convicts humans of their sin, righteousness, and judgement. The Holy Spirit is the agent of a new birth, the one who we are baptized into the Body of Christ. The Holy Spirit dwells within every follower of Jesus purifying and empowering them all for holy living. The Holy Spirit is the one who guides us into biblical truth, comfort, encourages and enables Jesus followers to fulfill the great commission. He is the one who produces fruit in the lives of all who follow Jesus and gives them spiritual gifts for the good of the Church and the glorification of the Father and Son Jesus Christ.

The Bible

JesusChurch believes the Bible is the inerrant verbally inspired Word of God. It is therefore trustworthy, reliable, and without error in everything it addresses. We believe the Word of God is protected by the Holy Spirit and just as valid today as when it was originally written. In fact, it is THE TRUTH needed for our world! The bible will forever be unchangeable and remains the final authority for faith and life.

Humanity

JesusChurch believes God created human beings – MALE and FEMALE – as equal partners who bear the image of God. We believe gender is divinely designed, and an expression of the goodness of creation. Human sexuality is a gift, meant only for a monogamous, lifelong marital union between one man and one woman.

JesusChurch believes the historical depiction of the first man, Adam, who along with his wife Eve were uniquely created by God as recorded in the book of Genesis. We therefore do not believe in Darwin’s theory of evolution. Male and female were created by God in His image and considered God’s greatest creation. Adam and Eve were created without sin and were meant to live in perfect harmony with God the Father and commanded to be fruitful and multiply while also charitably providing dominion of the earth and everything in it. Humans were created to love God and each other.

JesusChurch believes Adam and Eve willfully fell into temptation and sinned. They disobeyed God’s command to not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and thus brought transgenerational sin into the world. In that moment all humanity became separated from God, and subject to physical and spiritual death. Sin has corrupted human nature and as a result while still bearing the image of God, are polluted in every aspect of their being. Sin estranged humans from God and therefore are deserving of judgement.

Salvation and the Spirit-Filled Life

JesusChurch believes God desires all humans be restored to a right relationship with Him. The story of redemption is the grace filled design by God to rescue humanity from the deserved consequences of sin. We believe God predestined all humanity with the opportunity of salvation, a spirit filled life and eternal life through Jesus Christ to be with Him.

We believe Jesus Christ is God’s only provision for salvation. Jesus voluntarily offered His life as both a representative and substitute by suffering and dying on the cross in our place. Jesus took the wrath of the Father upon himself. We believe in his bodily resurrection on the third day, which fully and powerfully declared him to be the Son of God. By His death and resurrection Jesus conquered sin, death, hell and the devil.

JesusChurch believes Jesus is the atoning sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. We believe salvation is a gift given to all who repent and believe in Jesus. We believe repentance and faith are the divinely enabled and predestined human response to the grace of God through Jesus Christ. Anyone who truly confesses, repents and declares Jesus to be their saviour, Lord and master are fully justified by faith, positionally sanctified, reconciled by God, born of His Spirit, adopted as His children, and united with Jesus in His death and resurrection. Although the work of sanctification begins positionally, the process continues throughout life. All believers are called to submit, fully cooperate and give their lives to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Humans are called to surrender their wills, be renewed, becoming purified and perfected in Christ.

The Church

JesusChurch believes the invisible and universal Church is a spiritual body comprised of those who have chosen to follow Jesus, in life and death. Christ himself serves as both the Head of and Lord of the Church.

We believe the church body is to be communal loving expression and ambassadors for Christ. We are called as a fellowship to gather for worship, prayer, unapologetic instruction in the Word, mutual encouragement and accountability.

We believe baptism by immersion and communion were instituted by the Lord Jesus himself. These are not a means of salvation, but outward signs and expressions of the salvation we have by faith. These are divinely mandated means by wish followers of Jesus publicly affirm and declare their faith in Jesus Christ.  We believe in water baptism (by immersion if able) as a symbolic spiritual union and public declaration of one’s chosen faith in Christ in his death, burial and resurrection. I, therefore, believe that baptism by immersion be administered whenever possible.

Communion serves as both a vivid memorial of Jesus bodily sacrifice but also a personal and public proclamation of His death until His return. Communion symbolizes a follower’s unity in Christ and every other believer. Communion is also an opportunity for serious self-reflection and is open for all followers of Jesus.

Although not a sacrament foot washing can also serve as a vivid expression of servanthood leadership as modelled by Jesus. Foot washing symbolizes how we are all equally serving and leading each other. It’s an opportunity to experience the humility of leadership.

The Last Days & End Times

JesusChurch believes the last days and end times will be experienced by worldwide persecution and divine judgement. We believe Jesus’ return will be personal, bodily, visible and glorious. Followers of Jesus must always be prepared and ready for his second coming; a source of encouragement, comfort, hope, a motive for holy living and an inspiration for ministry and fulfilling the great commission. We believe when Jesus returns, he will conquer His enemies and establish a new heaven and new earth in perfect righteousness.

For those in Christ there will be no condemnation. They will have their lives and works judged only for the eternal rewards in heaven. All followers will enjoy an eternal, embodied life in the presence of God and His angels forever.

We believe a new heaven and new earth will be established and all will be restored.

The Gospel

JesusChurch believes God commands everyone everywhere to believe the gospel by turning to Jesus in repentance and receiving the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that God will raise the dead bodily and judge the world, assigning the unbeliever to condemnation and eternal conscious punishment and the believer to eternal blessedness and joy with the Lord in the new heaven and the new earth, to the praise of His glorious grace.
